Subversion is the most important tool a CS student can possess...
Or, so I argue at my blog in a new post. If you're not using subversion or another content control system, you owe it to yourself and your code to check out why you should.

Great list of resources for CSS students
Check out this great blog post: 50+ Killer Online Resources for Computer Science Students. The title's a bit over the top, but it does have a good collection of links aimed at CSS/CS students dealing with general advice, money, organizations, careers, AI, programming, tools, etc.

Seattle CodeCamp January 26 and 27
(Cross-posted here and my blog)
Be sure to spread the word about the Seattle CodeCamp January 26 and 27. It's shaping up to be a programmer-powered tech-fest par excellence. And don't forget - it's free. Considering how much most conferences cost, this is quite a plus. The number of sessions is increasing daily. As would be expected due to the gravitational pull of our friends in Redmond, most of the sessions have a distinctly Windows-developer focus. Some that I'm hoping to hit:
Be sure to register soon.
If you'd like to carpool or need a ride, leave a comment and we'll try to hook everyone up. This is a good opportunity to meet new contacts, learn about the latest technologies and introduce yourself to the programming community.

- Rethinking Unit Testing: xUnit.net
- An Introduction to Windows Communication Foundation
- Java-based web-apps with the Eclipse Rich Ajax Platform
- Static Analysis
- F# - hey, everybody's talking about, it must be cool
- Making JavaScript less painful

Cheaper textbooks
I spent some time looking for a better deal on my textbooks on numerous sites and eventually I stumbled upon one that was significantly cheaper than the rest: Valore Books. I got what I was look for quickly and in "New" condition, for 50$ when it lists for $110.
Valore Books is a "marketplace" style site, a community of individual sellers, so while my experience was excellent, I can't promise it would be the same for you. But, it is definitely worth checking out.
